Ode to Sandy

Screaming Sandy, rage!
Unleash thirsty, brawling winds
Revealing howling ambuscados!
Deliver a drenching deluge
Send rushing waters to rise
around us if you dare!

But still we stand strong below,
Weathered yet braced and sheltered.
Withstanding piercing lances
hurled from crippling, tortured skies.

The fallen shards we now gather
and cast with all of our might
back against the heavens.
Edged blades to cleave
angered clouds that hover
over this vengeful night.

Slicing gloom to reveal
compassions of the moon
that soothe the fevered tides
and guide with gentle ease,
roiled waters that now recede
on ebbing tides that flow softly
back into the sea.
